In a stunning new poll by the nonprofit group More in Common, 93 percent of Democrats and 73 percent of Republicans agree that “the U.S. should be a world leader in developing clean energy.” Apart from those close to the coal industry, virtually every Kentuckian I’ve spoken to over the years favored government help in getting the coal slurry out of their drinking water and welcomed the prospect of alternative energy.
