Fostering connections and collaboration to build social cohesion
Efforts to reduce polarization and build social cohesion rely on diverse groups of individuals and organizations working together to address common goals. We specialize in facilitating events and convenings that bring together people and groups from a variety of backgrounds. We also regularly run pop-up initiatives that bring together unusual partners to explore a shared theme, such as communicating about American identity in ways that resonate across lines of difference.
VCI
Veterans Citizens Initiative (VCI) brings together a nonpartisan group of veterans, military families, and support organizations committed to bridging divides, strengthening our country, and promoting the shared obligations of citizenship. Since its founding, the VCI has worked with dozens of veterans and military family organizations, published eight reports on attitudes regarding veterans and American society and has been featured in leading media outlets.
Pop-Up Initiatives
We regularly convene short-term initiatives that bring diverse sets of organizations together to build shared research and communications resources. In the past we’ve convened groups from across the ideological spectrum and identified ways to communicate about American identity that resonated with diverse audiences. We also led research to develop communication guidance for a network of community organizations to help them broaden support for refugees and increase volunteer engagement.
Research to Action
More in Common co-hosted the Research to Impact convening, bringing together over 60 researchers, practitioners, funders and storytellers committed to fostering a culture of pluralism in the United States. The convening helped surface the existing evidence-base related to pluralism, identify key actions researchers, practitioners and funders can take to close the gap between research and practice and build connection, momentum and energy to carry new partnerships forward.
This was a fantastic gathering! Great connections and so much food for thought that we are already incorporating into our strategic planning for next year. Thank you for including us!
