The former Department of Homeland Security statistics chief brings three decades of nonpartisan immigration policy and data expertise to More in Common’s research on where Americans agree
WASHINGTON, DC (August 24, 2026) – More in Common US today announced that Marc Rosenblum has joined the organization as Senior Fellow, Immigration. Rosenblum brings nearly three decades of experience in immigration policy and data, most recently as Executive Director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Homeland Security Statistics, a role he departed in July after more than a decade at the department.
As Senior Fellow, Rosenblum will advise on More in Common’s immigration research, including a forthcoming report on Americans’ attitudes towards immigration, providing a framework for moving beyond the deep polarization of recent years. He will also represent the organization’s immigration work externally through media appearances, panels, and partnerships.

About Marc Rosenblum
Marc Rosenblum joins More in Common after ten-and-a-half years at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he most recently served as Executive Director of the Office of Homeland Security Statistics (OHSS) and as the Statistical Official under the Evidence Act. He joined DHS in 2016 to lead the Office of Immigration Statistics and helped build it into OHSS, expanding its reporting from immigration alone to statistics across the department, maturing DHS’s data infrastructure and data quality, and growing the office’s analytic capacity.
Before joining DHS, Rosenblum was Deputy Director of the U.S. Immigration Policy Program at the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), following earlier posts as an MPI Senior Policy Analyst and as an immigration policy specialist at the Congressional Research Service, serving under four administrations from both parties. He served as a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow detailed to the office of Senator Edward Kennedy during the 2006 Senate immigration debate and contributed to Senate immigration legislative efforts in 2006 and 2007. In 2009, he served on President-elect Obama’s Immigration Policy Transition Team, and from 2011 to 2013 he served on the National Research Council’s Committee on Estimating Costs of Immigration Enforcement in the Department of Justice.
Rosenblum has published more than 60 academic journal articles, book chapters, and policy briefs on immigration policy and U.S.-Latin American relations, and is co-editor, with Daniel Tichenor, of The Oxford Handbook of International Migration (Oxford University Press). He holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, and began his career as an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans.
